White on white, 2 channel sound installation, 2011

White on white is part of a series of works that address the properties of the medium itself. It can be read either as a sound painting or a sound sculpture. Using a range of speakers (from subwoofers to tweeters) the work proposes a fine and constant layering of white noise. In the study of light, Newton was using the prism to decompose the white light into it's composing colors. White on white uses the automatic frequency filtering of different speakers to decompose the white noise into several constituent frequencies, simply spreading on the floor the different shades of a single source signal. Walking up and down the line of speakers also makes one aware of the different physical sound waves dominating each section
